On September 14, we were visited by members of the freshman
class of King
College, in Bristol, Tennessee. |
Promotion and Launch Sunday (September 7)
We got our new Sunday School year off to a rousing
start by recognizing the students who were promoted to a higher
class. Congratulations to you all!

On Wednesday, August 27, we were visited by Rev. and Mrs.
Obed Ochwanyi of the Buruburu Community Centre Church of God
in Nairobi, Kenya. They shared information and testimony with
us about their ministry.

We were also visited On September 3rd by Rev. Grace Kariuki of Amazing
Grace Ministries. She shared information about her ministry to
orphans and homeless children in Kenya.
At the West Middlesex camp meeting this August, they honored
ministers and workers who had passed on during the previous year.
Our own Sis. Carolyn Reed and Rev. Dr. Victor Phillips, Sr. were
among the ones remembered. Brother Lewis Reed accepted the
recognition for his wife, and Pastor Sanders stood for Rev.
Phillips. In addition, Sister Reed was specially honored by the
In-Service Training Institute.

Pastor Sanders continues to combine her scholarly and ministerial
expertise. In June, she presented a paper on our prayer breakfast at
the University of Virginia Project on Lived Theology
Conference. She was also interviewed in the publication, Research News and Opportunities in Science and Theology.

In early July, Pastor Sanders ministered at the State Convention of
the Florida Association of the Church of God. Here she shares a
moment of reunion with Bro. Vendel and Sis. Pauline Anderson.

(July 6, 2003) Greetings to Max and Kate Finberg who came to
visit us. They were in town from Rome for a few days.
Our church was well-represented at the National Association Usher's
Convention held in Washington in May of 2003. Click here

Congratulations to
Brother Benjamin and Sister Dorothy Jenkins, who celebrated
their 70th wedding anniversary with us on Sunday, April 27.

40 years of employment

On November 12, 2000 at Israel Baptist Church, the Ministry of Music and Fine Arts presented a concert commemorating Third Street's 90th anniversary. Special works combining orchestra and choir were commissioned by the church and composed by Evelyn Simpson
Curenton, Darin Atwater, and Stephen Key.
The Ministry of Music and Fine Arts has made available a CD of the 90th Anniversary Concert The cost is $15.00. Orders may be placed with Mrs. Lorna McIntyre (202-347-5889) or via email at
lmcintyre@thirdstreet.org. A CD from the Choral Ensemble Reunion Concert (October 2001) is also available. The CD features the reunion choir and also the original recording of the Choral Ensemble distributed in the 1980's. For additional information call or email Mrs. McIntyre.
